Where it started
In 2006, a nutrition professor at the University of Porto posed a simple question: could a skinfold caliper be digitized, eliminating manual entry errors and making anthropometric assessment faster and more reliable?
The Faculty of Engineering answered. The result was a patented Bluetooth® skinfold caliper, protected in both the United States and Europe: the first of its kind.
From academia to practice
In 2018, Tiago Andrade, one of the original inventors, left academia to bring the technology to the professionals who needed it most. Together with Ricardo Moura, he co-founded Wisify Tech Solutions, licensing the technology from the University of Porto.
The device became Lipowise. The software grew around it. And the vision expanded: not just a caliper, but a complete clinical workflow, from first measurement to final report.

Wisify is a hardware and software ecosystem designed for professionals who cannot afford to compromise on precision. Our tools are used by ISAK-certified anthropometrists, clinical and sports nutritionists, personal trainers, and sports federations across 5 markets.

Where we're going
Anthropometric assessment remains one of the most underutilized tools in preventive health and sports performance. We are building the infrastructure to change that, making precision measurement accessible, scalable, and actionable for every professional, at every level.
